Finance Department
Overview
The Department is under the authority of
the Vice-President for Financial and Administrative Affairs and is responsible for applying institutional policies and accounting procedures, recording and
maintaining accounting records, monitoring assets management. It seeks to meet
the University's contractual obligations to donors, suppliers and others to
serve the University's commitment to high standards of ethical and professional
conduct.
The Department comprises five units:
- General Accounting Division,
- Reporting and Budgeting Division,
- Internal Audit Division,
- Procurement Division, and
- Stores Division.
Activities
The staff of the General Accounting Division
conducts many vital activities such as collecting and accounting for the
students tuition fees, making payments to vendors,
and processing requests for payment of travel and conference reimbursements. It follows up
on necessary allocations between the different BZU departments, institutes,
programs and centers, in addition to liaising with the University's external
auditors.
The staff of Reporting and Budgeting Division works on budget
preparation, conduct compliance analysis, variance analysis, and report to the department's director, top management and to donors
The principal role of the Audit Division is to provide an
objective review of systems and operations to ensure that sound internal
controls are applied, monitored and evaluated regularly and that the
University's interests are protected
The staff of Procurement Division is responsible for purchasing
all goods, services and equipment for the University; and for the rental and
leasing of equipment in accordance with the University's adopted procedures and
policies.
The staff of Stores Division is responsible for following up
the safeguarding and recording of the University's assets and Inventory.
Mission
To pursue the university-wide mission of Service
and Stewardship, provide expert procurement and financial support to the University's community in a manner that enhances the University's image of being
a distinguished university.
