Engineering Office
Overview
The Engineering Office was established in
the late 1970s upon the starting out of construction in the current campus. The volume and quality of the construction process were quite unfamiliar
to the local expertise, leading to consult expert engineers from abroad.
Consequently, the office was initiated to represent the owner (Board of
Trustees) and follow-up with the consultant on details of design and
implementation to be submitted to the owner. Since then, the Office has been
engaged in the construction of all buildings on campus, in addition to the
infrastructure.
Following the completion of the Faculty of Sciences building,
some of the previously hired laborers and technical staff at the Office were
transferred to do maintenance work. Eventually, the Office took the shape of two
divisions: Projects and Maintenance.
Basically, the Office offers services to the Board of Trustees
pertaining to construction, survey, land property and any infrastructure
projects. With respect to maintenance, the Office provides services for all
facilities, departments, administration, etc.
Mission
To provide and maintain high
quality facilities and services to the University community by optimal
utilization of financial resources for the purpose of protecting the
University's property.
