Birzeit University Signs Agreement with Government of Saudi Arabia

As continuation of the generous Saudi support to the Palestinian people, the Government of Saudi Arabia and Birzeit University signed an agreement in Amman on May 20, 2015 . The agreement stipulated Saudi financial support of $ eight million US dollars to finance the construction of student dormitory at Birzeit University in the West Bank, to include all the necessary equipment and furniture, as well as the engineering services.

The Birzeit University president Dr. Khalil Hindi noted that the presence of a university student hostel will encourage students from various governorates to join the university, knowing that the accommodation is provided,

Hindi added that the university hopes to secure more funds to enable the university to maintain its independence, and enhance its role in education, research and community outreach.

It should be noted that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has already provided, through the Saudi Fund for Development, a total of 4.1 billion dollars for the Palestinian people, of which $ 2.1 billion for the implementation of various development projects in the health, education, housing and infrastructure sectors, in addition to $ 2 billion for Palestinian government budget support.
