Islah Jad Selected as Vera Campbell Resident Scholar

Women’s Studies Institute Islah Jad was selected from among 33 competing
candidates to be a 2013-2014 Vera Campbell Resident Scholar. As a result, Jad
will be spending nine months at the School for Advanced Research (SAR) in the
US from September 1, 2013 through May 31, 2014.
The fellowship program is
designed to support writing and research needs and to encourage interaction
with the school’s scholarly community.
The School for Advanced Research was established in Santa Fe, New
Mexico in 1907 as a center for the study of the archaeology and ethnology of
the American Southwest. Since 1967, the scope of the school’s
activities has embraced a global perspective through programs to encourage
advanced scholarship in anthropology and related social science disciplines and
the humanities, and to facilitate the work of Native American scholars and
artists.
