6th Technology Day at Birzeit University

Technology opened the 6th Annual
Technology
Day, sponsored by Wataniya Mobile Company, on April 3, 2013.
The ceremony was attended by BZU President Khalil Hindi, Minister of Telecommunications and Information Technology Safa
Nasser Eldin, Vice
President for Academic Affairs Adnan
Yahya, Faculty of
Information Technology Dean Ali Jaber, Wataniya Chief Executive Officer Fayez
Husseini, members of the University
Council, faculty members, representatives of participating companies and many university
students.
Opening the festivities, VP Yahya said, "Birzeit University is
aware of the complementary relationship between
academia and industry, and
the university is very keen on connecting
its students with the labor market.”
Minister Nasser Eldin emphasized the strong relationship between the
ministry and BZU’s faculty. She told the students,
"You should make the best out of
your study years to prepare for engagement in the labor
market - you need to develop skills,
including communication skills, that will assist you in getting
involved in the job market.”
Dean Jaber lauded
the 6th Annual Technology Day as “activating
the partnership between the faculty and
Palestinian technology companies to
promote Palestinian information
production, so as to keep pace with the worldwide information technology revolution.”
The two-day event incorporates a number of scientific lectures by representatives of local
and international companies and BZU faculty members,
in addition to employment meetings between company
representatives and graduate
students, said event coordinator Iyad
Jaber.
Husseini told the
gathering that he valued student’s performance in the labor market, and said that the majority of Wataniya staff are graduates of Palestinian universities, thanking Birzeit University for inviting Wataniya for this
important event. Husseini confirmed that Wataniya’ relations with Birzeit University is not limited to sponsoring
such events, but is part of a broader sustainable
partnership begun in 2013.
