President Hindi and Delegation Visit Qatar Crown Prince to Discuss Cooperation
Birzeit University President
Khalil Hindi and an accompanying delegation
briefed Qatar’s Crown Prince Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani on the obstacles encountered by institutions
of higher education in Palestine, particularly the challenges facing Birzeit University.
His Highness said he valued BZU and
its leading role
in providing community service, while expressing
his understanding of the Palestinian plight.
The Birzeit delegation met with
the Crown Prince in early February. Hindi was accompanied by Vice President
for Advancement and Communication Ghassan Khatib, Dean of the Faculty of Arts Mahdi
Arar and Director
of the Advancement Office Manal Issa.
Also attending was general director of
the Arab Center for Research and Policy Studies,
Azmi Bishara.
The meeting engaged issues including
prospects for cooperation,
scientific exchange between Qatar University
and Birzeit University, joint research and exchange visits of professors and
students, in addition to possible educational
opportunities at the University of Qatar.
The delegation also met
with Palestinian and Qatari figures in the Gulf country to illuminate Birzeit University achievements and
challenges and discuss prospects for cooperation.
