BZU Celebrates the 34th Commencement

On 13 June 2009, the 34th graduation event started and included graduating students from the Faculty of Arts and Faculty of Commerce and Economics started, under the patronage of President Mahmoud Abbas, represented by Dr. Nasser Al-Qudweh. The event was attended by the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Dr. Hanna Nasser, BZU President, Dr. Nabeel Kassis, and a number of Palestinian figures.

In his opening speech, Dr. Kassis explained that BZU has been always dealt with a high number of students, who applied to pursue their higher education at BZU, leading to major challenges in terms of providing the requirements for maintaining a distinguished academic atmosphere, since BZU seeks to improve its academic programs.

The 34th graduation ceremony was concluded on 14 June 2009, as 1476 students from the Faculties of Science, Engineering, Information Technology Law and Public Administration and Graduate Studies were graduated....

Inauguration of Said Khoury's Building for Development Studies

The Chairman of BZU Board of Trustees, Dr. Hanna Nasser, BZU President, Dr. Nabeel Kassis and Mr. Waleed Salman, representative of Mr. Said Khoury, opened the Said Khoury's Building for Development Studies on June 27, 2009, which is located on BZU campus.

Student Conference "Readings in Democratization"

The Master's Program in Democracy and Human Rights at BZU held a student conference entitled "Readings in the Democratic Transition", on 29 May 2009 at the Best Eastern Hotel in Ramallah.

The conference included presentations of research papers prepared by students in the program, related mechanisms of democratization, and a number of case studies from different countries and others related to the development of the Palestinian political system.

The Conclusion of the Conference on "Good Governance of the Security Sector in the Arab Region"

The participants at the 1^st Regional Conference in the Arab region on "Good Governance of the Security Sector in the Arab Region: the role played by civil society?", held in Amman, Jordan, in cooperation with the Institute of Law at BZU, and in coordination with the Foundation for the Future in Amman, and the Geneva Center for Democratic Control of Armed forces, recommended the need to take the broad concept of security sector departments and the various security agencies and not just the police.

Center for Continuing Education

Center for Continuing Education Launched the Project "Designing, Developing and implementing E-Curricula"

The Unit for Learning Innovation (ULI) at the Center of Continuing Education (CCE) launched an innovative project, aiming at building the capabilities of faculty members in the Teachers Training centers - UNRWA, in order to re-develop the curricula that includes  the teachers education program with the creative spirit to be in harmony with  skills and knowledge, acquired by teachers during the project, which is part of the continuing efforts by the ULI in building the capacities of faculty members of the Palestinian universities, as part of a cooperation agreement between BZU and UNRWA, financed by Cisco.
