Monther Farrah Endowed Challenge Fund Scholarship

This scholarship established in 2001, will annually be awarded to a student who has been adversely affected by the ongoing violence perpetrated against the Palestinian people by the Israeli Occupation.  The scholarship covers full tuitions and registration fees of the student recipient and will continue to be granted in perpetuity to a student at Birzeit University who demonstrates financial need and academic aptitude.

Eli Custandy Nuqul Endowed Scholarship

This scholarship was established in March 2002 and became fully endowed in July 2003. The scholarship covers full tuition and registration fees of the student recipient and will continue to be granted in perpetuity to an undergraduate student at Birzeit University who demonstrates financial need and academic excellence.

PARTIAL ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIPS

Partially Endowed Scholarships can be established with a minimum of $10,000 gift with a commitment from the donor to fully endow the scholarship within three years of its establishment. Hassan Khatib Endowed ScholarshipSuhail Saba Endowed Scholarship

Hassan Abdallah Endowed Scholarship

This scholarship established in 2001, by the Hassan Abdallah Memorial Scholarship Fund, honors the late Dr. Hassan Mustafa Abdallah for his life-time commitment and humanitarian service to Palestine and the Arab world.  Throughout his professional career and personal life, Dr. Abdallah worked to build bridges between the West and the Arab world and was driven by his strong belief in Arab nationalism and the liberation of Palestine. The endowment currently provides a scholarship to a worthy student who demonstrates scholastic achievement, financial need, potential and commitment to support the community.   

Masri Foundation Endowed ScholarshipsTwo endowed scholarships

were established in 1990 and 1992 by the Munib R. Masri Development Foundation to support Birzeit University students’ education in perpetuity.  The scholarships are given annually to cover the full tuition and registration fees for two students who demonstrate financial need and academic aptitude at the University. 

The Munib R. Masri Development Foundation (MDF) was founded by Munib R. Masri, who was born in Nablus, Palestine in 1934.  Mr. Masri graduated with honors from the University of Texas in 1955 with a degree in Petroleum Geology and in 1956 he received a Masters Degree in Geology and Government from Sul Ross University. In that same year, he retuned to the Arab world and began his professional career.  The MDF’s philanthropic activities are concentrated in Palestine, Lebanon, and Jordan. It provides financial support to individuals and institutions in the areas of education, healthcare, cultural heritage, and social welfare. The Foundation aims to improve and advance society by developing people's skills and the environment in which they live. 

Two major projects currently being undertaken by the Foundation are the construction of the Munib R. Masri School of Engineering at An-Najjah National University, and the pediatric ward named after Mr. Masri's mother, Zahia, in Al-Ittihad Hospital, both located in Nablus.By endowing scholarships at Birzeit University, as well as at other local and regional universities, the Foundation is reaffirming its commitment to developing and improving the quality of education among young Palestinians and Arabs.

Renee Khouri and David Lent Endowed Scholarship

Renee Naim Khouri and David F. Lent Endowed Scholarship – This scholarship was established in February 2002 and became fully endowed in April 2004. The scholarship will be granted annually in perpetuity to a student who demonstrates academic excellence and financial need. Renee was a member of Birzeit College's first graduating class in 1962 when the institution was still a two-year college. Her attendance at Birzeit and later at American University of Beirut was made possible through scholarships. As a journalist, David covered the Middle East during the 1970's, and got to know it and love it.

Established Endowed Scholarships Advancement of Palestinian Youth Endowed Scholarships (6)

The Advancement for Palestinian Youth Endowed Scholarships were established by a group of concerned individuals, who aim to promote higher education in Palestine by granting scholarships to students who demonstrate academic achievement and are in need of financial assistance.There are currently three Endowed Advancement Scholarships at Birzeit University. There are currently six Endowed Advancement Scholarships at Birzeit University. Advancement for Palestinian Youth Endowed Scholarship 1 was established in the 2001-2002 Academic Year.  Disbursement began during the 2002-2003 Academic Year. Advancement for Palestinian Youth Endowed Scholarship 2 was established in 2003-2004 Academic Year and disbursement of this scholarship began at the start of the 2004- 2005 Academic Year. Advancement for Palestinian Youth Endowed Scholarship 3 was established in 2004 – 2005 and disbursement of this scholarship began at the start of the 2005- 2006 Academic Year.  Three more Advancement for Palestinian Youth Endowed Scholarships were activated in the 2005-2006 Academic Year.

AUC Friends of Birzeit University Endowed Scholarship

This scholarship was established in August 2002 by concerned friends and supporters at the American University of Cairo in response to the Challenge Fund Appeal.  The scholarship will begin to be disbursed in the 2003-2004 academic school year to a worthy student who has been affected by the political situation in Palestine.
