Nursing

The mission of the Nursing program is to prepare of a unique and high quality-nursing workforce, using a curriculum that is built upon foundations of scientific research and multi-branched academic performance. Our curriculum is supportive of comprehensive growth and development in Palestine. The nursing department aims to play a leading role in the education of its students, in order to increase the quality of the health care system in Palestine, along with increasing the quality of the academic level using diverse techniques in research, education, training, and services.

  • Preparation of a specialized nursing workforce that is able to play advanced roles in the care of patients that suffer from different diseases and illnesses, deal with the symptoms of these patients, and give high quality health care services within the Palestinian health sectors.
  • Advancing the nursing profession towards the development of critical thinking and problem solving, with concentration on the new role of nursing internationally.
  • Educate nurses theoretically and clinically; this will enable them to give high quality and comprehensive care to patients and their families.
  • Preparation of a nursing workforce that can work in hospitals and health centers locally, regionally, and internationally.
  • Provide the necessary training to work in all types of health sectors in the Palestinian community.
  • Enhance students’ scientific research skills.
  • Advancement of presenting health awareness for the individual and its family.
  • Graduation of committed nurses to the ethics of the nursing profession and are able to develop the profession locally and internationally.
  • Identify up-to date  knowledge of nursing science and care including adult health nursing, maternal and child health nursing, psychiatric- mental health nursing, and community health nursing.
  • Utilize essential basic knowledge from other disciplines in providing quality nursing care
  • Integrate theories and concepts from liberal education into nursing practice
  • Recognize the role of information technology in improving patient care outcomes and creating a safe care environment
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the basic elements of the research process and models for applying evidence to clinical practice
  • Analyze knowledge of healthcare policy, finance,  including governmental, nongovernmental and charity health services in the context of Palestine
  • Utilize the basis of nursing process provide nursing care for clients across the lifespan, and in all healthcare settings
  • Conduct comprehensive and focused physical, behavioral, psychological, spiritual, socioeconomic, and environmental assessments of health and illness parameters in clients.
  • Implement holistic, patient centered care that reflects an understanding of human pathophysiology, pharmacology, medical management, and nursing management across the health-illness continuum across the lifespan.
  • Assess protective and predictive factors, which influence the health of individuals, families, groups, communities, and populations
  • Use critical thinking and problem solving skills in implementing individual nursing care plans.
  • Assume professional, legal, and ethical principles. 
  • Value the concept of lifelong learning to support excellence in nursing practice
  • Demonstrate leadership and communication skills to effectively implement patient safety and quality improvement initiatives within the context of the inter-professional
  • Translate research finding into practice.

Graduates of the nursing program will find job opportunities locally and regionally, in both private and public sectors, and medical centers and organizations in Palestine. Graduates also have opportunities in medical organizations and hospitals internationally.
