Major Political Science/ Minor International Relations

Raise the level of political science education of in Palestine through building and development of knowledge and skills of students to hone their abilities to work in the field of political science efficiently, as well as enable them to acquire the capabilities that qualifies them to complete their postgraduate studies.

  • Provide the public institutions of the Palestinian National Authority and inform them of the strong link this field with other related sciences, such as economics, public administration and law.
  • Provide qualified staff for research centers with a high level of education and knowledge are in contact with the theoretical and practical aspects of their field, and specialize in more than one academic field related to their professional life and is capable of combining the academic study and practical application on the long run.
  • Encourage multiple fields of academic study.
  • Achieve a higher of professionalism and specialization in the political field and public work through providing the qualified cadres in this area.
  • Contribute to increasing the sense of knowledge in the political affairs of the Palestinian society.
  • Knowledge of the field of political science in terms of its branches, concepts and research methodologies used in this field.
  • Understand the different theories and schools of thought in political science and its subsidiaries.
  • Understand the basic political processes, institutions, and actors in the domestic and international level.
  • Enable the student to analyze the political issues and phenomena using the concepts of political science, theories and methods.
  • Empower the student to make comparisons between the different case studies and international issues
  • Empower the student to acquire critical thinking and analytical reading.
  • Shows efficiency in thinking systematically about political reactions in the national, global and international contexts.
  •  Analyzes and explains the relationship between politics, economy, culture and other aspects inside and outside the state.
  • Shows understanding of the different political systems in the world and is able as well to make comparisons among them.
  • Shows the ability to write clearly about political issues, including the ability to access and evaluate a wide range of sources of information available using them appropriately to support arguments.
  • Shows the ability to communicate with those working in the state inside and outside professionally.
  • Shows the ability to offer ideas and present arguments and defend them.
