Design

The bachelor of Design is an interdisciplinary program that provides a unique learning experience for students in objects design, graphics, fashion design, multimedia design, and furniture design, through emphasizing on four main pillars: Communication, Criticality, Innovation, and Making. The program is a 4-year BA program providing distinct and comprehensive educational experiences, different perspectives and practice of the design filed. The theoretical studies are designed specifically for the inclusion of the Palestinian context as part of the broader critical and historical studies. The program provides the core stone for the design practices of students, as well as engaging them in critical and cultural debates related to design field in local and international forums. The program is distinguished for its contemporary teaching methodologies, cadre of experts working at the forefront of their fields, and local and international partnerships facilitating students and artists’ exchange. We believe that the program will contribute to the development of the design industry and the visual culture. ***The program offers partial scholarships that cover half of the tuition fees for a number of students.

Communication, Criticality, Innovation & Entrepreneurship, are to be the cornerstone of the new program which will train young people in the field of design for the decades to come and which will raise the standard of design work in Palestine while supporting the development of local industries. The program’s emphasis on craftsmanship, making and actual production would benefit in generating a local dialogue and tangible language of quality, influence suppliers, raw material production and technicians so as to physically affect the design scene in Palestine.

The objective of the program is to produce a cadre of graduates who will have the knowledge and understanding, intellectual, practical and key transferable skills to be able to pursue a professional career in the design field, including graphic design, object design and fashion design, and continue on to post-graduate study.  The program’s objective is to provide students with a wide exposure to contemporary design, its methods and practices through engagement with local and international practitioners who are at the forefront of their field.

Our objective is to teach contemporary design in a manner that addresses the historical, theoretical and practical breadth of the field, and that engages with local knowledge, economy, production, geopolitical contexts and lived realities of Palestine, in so doing our aim is that graduates will contribute to the development of cultural production.

Our objective is for the education on this program to be dynamic in such that its content addresses and is relevant to the ever -evolving field of contemporary and traditional design practice.

We believe that the program will contribute to the development of the design industry and the visual culture.

The program trains students to build their careers locally and internationally in the following areas:

  • As independent designer
