Chemistry

The mission of the Bachelor Degree in Chemistry program is to provide students with the background needed for science related industrial and academic positions, and prepare its graduates for careers in chemistry and relevant field nationally and internationally and to be equipped for professional programs such as pharmacy, medicine and dentistry.

  • Provide students with a broad foundation in chemistry and related sciences to integrate knowledge of mathematics, physics and other disciplines to a wide variety of chemical problems.
  • Apply chemical and physical principles in the solution of qualitative and quantitative chemical problems.
  • Become proficient in chemical laboratory techniques and be able to apply them with in work environment.
  • Equip students with the skills required to succeed in graduate school, the chemical industry or professional school.
  • Demonstrate ethical behavior, accountability as well as personal and academic integrity and demonstrate time and resource management.
  • Supplying appropriately trained graduates involved in Chemistry and equip graduates with a required knowledge and skills base to enhance employment and career opportunities in the different field of chemistry.
  • Understanding of a wide range of scientific principles. Providing high quality teaching, scholarship and research which, forms an appropriate learning environment for an undergraduate program.
  • Enhancing professional qualifications and post-graduate study in the different fields of chemistry.
  • Stimulating and challenging reasoning ability by teaching students to think as chemist.
  • Developing the abilities to apply analytical thinking and operating skills to find solution to chemical problem.
  • Analyzing data related to chemistry problem and be able to develop a solution to chemistry related problem.
  • Applying the standard data analyses methodology and safety procedures and operations in a chemical laboratory.
  • Operating several chemically related equipment and instruments.
  • Performing the required tasks for a research or experimental project
  • Enhancing oral and written communication skills, and problem solving abilities.
  • Ensuring that the student is capable of working confidently and adopting a mature, professional and safe approach in their work.
  • Teamwork and the ability to tackle a practical work, and analysis of the results, data, arguments and cases.
  • Numeration and computation, including such aspects as error analysis, order-of-magnitude estimations and correct use of units and modes of data presentation.
  • Information retrieval in relation to primary and secondary information sources, including information retrieval through online computer searches and information technology skills, including word processing, spreadsheet use and database use.
  • An ethical attitude and approach.

Graduates of the bachelor program in chemistry can be employed within the following:

  • Governmental sector:  including education, various ministries such as Ministry of Environment, Ministry of National Economy, Ministry of Industry, Ministry of Health, the Water Authority and Metrology,
