Research

Scientific Research is a cornerstone to the Faculty of Business and Economics.  The Faculty has engaged in research topics addressing several areas in the various departments, as well as publishing in cooperation with local and international researchers in highly respected peer reviewed journals.  The faculty’s research areas are summarized as follows:

  • Business Administration: text on leadership- The Palestinian Executive (Publisher: Gower UK), cases on management and organizational behavior in an Arab context (Edited Book/ Publisher: IGI, USA), women entrepreneurship with Cardiff University, United Kingdom,  students entrepreneurial intentions, social responsibility, internationalization of Palestinian pharmaceutical companies,  an investigation of the impact of performance measurement dimensions on firm’s growth: the case of the stone and marble industry in Palestine, managing solid waste by local governments,  human resource management, corporate governance and cluster cooperation and competiveness.
     
  • Economics: the impact of technological development in agriculture on carbon dioxide emissions in Jordan with Evry University France, reform and development of the cooperative sector in Palestine, entrepreneurship and innovation, The impact of the Arab Spring on tourism in the Arab Spring countries and its competitors in Arab and European countries with University of Murcia, Tourism on economic growth in the Middle East and North African countries and the countries of the Euro-Mediterranean, Increase in income tax and macroeconomic instability and Philips Curve and its implementation in Palestine.
     
  • Accounting: managing of treasury transactions in multi-currency economy: evidence from Palestine, labor productivity in the Palestinian family businesses, international banking in multi-currency economy, an investigation of the impact of performance measurement dimensions on firm’s growth: the case of the stone and marble industry in Palestine, 3 books (Auditing Book, Financial Accounting Book, Cost and Managerial Accounting Book),  measuring and presenting financial data in compliance with international public sector accounting standards (IPAS).
     
  • Finance: macroeconomic variables and stock market volatility: the case of Turkey, Israel and Cyprus, earnings announcement and flows and their impact on revenues and stock prices, corporate governance and firm capital, the development and challenges of Takaful in Palestine, unemployment and labor force participation in Palestine, the impact of product warranties on the capital structure of Australian firms, the Ramadan effect in MENA stock markets, recent financial crisis and the performance of emerging market mutual funds.
