English Language Instruction Program "Unlock"

Birzeit University launched a new English language education program for its undergraduate students at the begining of the academic year 2016/2017. The new curricula aligns with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) in its learner-driven philosophy and describes six levels of language attainment  starting from level A1 at the basic user level to level C2 at the proficient user level of English language competence.

Our Goals:

  • Prepare our students to meet the rigor of their education at Birzeit University and their capacity to access and handle educational resources available in English;
  • Ensure our students progression and achievement in the growing number of courses and programs offered at BZU that employ English as a medium of instruction whether partially or fully;
  • Equip our graduates with English language skills and competencies deemed necessary for the job market locally and internationally as well prepare them for graduate studies and their eligibility for scholarship schemes
