Objectives of the CDS

  • To conduct academic, applied and policy oriented research and studies on the diverse aspects of development in the Palestinian society.
  • To engage critically with issues and debates in development studies emerging from both the Arab world and internationally, in order to contribute to the development and exchange of knowledge and to identify shared concerns and challenges. 
  • To organize various community programmes and outreach activities, including conferences, workshops and symposia, which bring together various sectors concerned with development issues.
  • To implement and manage programmes in community development projects, holistically, taking into account the colonial structures of dominance.
  • To train new generations of scholars, researchers and activists who combine local experience and academic knowledge with a critical understanding of international theoretical frameworks and methodological tools.
  • To promote public debate about international paradigms operative in the occupied Palestinian territories, while supporting the development of local expertise in diverse areas of development.
