School students learn importance, methods of water preservation in water studies institute training program

Five-hundred elementary and primary school students from four schools in Anin, a village in the Jenin governorate, took part a training campaign on water issues organized by the Institute of Environmental and Water Studies at Birzeit University together with the Palestinian Agricultural Development Association.

The training campaign – funded by the European Union and led by Ghadeer Arafeh and Wisam Arafat, from the Institute of Environmental and Water Studies – was held over 10 sessions, in which students were introduced to water preservation techniques; water purification methods; and wastewater treatment procedures followed locally and internationally.

The campaign’s activities will continue until 2019, with 500 more students to be included in the program.
