Workshop Details 2017/2018 College of Europe Scholarships

“It’s a wonderful learning opportunity in one of the most prestigious university institutes in Europe,” said The Officer of External Academic Relations at Birzeit University Dr. Amir Khalil at the “Master’s Degree Scholarships at the College of Europe” workshop, held on November 25, 2017.

The workshop, organized by the Office of External Academic Relations and presented by the Ambassador of College of Europe in Palestine Alaa Jadallah, introduced the scholarships available for Palestinians to study in the College of Europe.

The College of Europe is one of the leading institutes of higher education in Europe. Founded in 1949, it counts among its alumni prominent European politicians such as the former Prime Minister of Denmark  Helle Thorning-Schmidt, the former British Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg, and the former Minister for Europe of Italy Enzo Moavero Milanesi.

Jadallah presented the range of fields of study eligible for scholarships in the College of Europe, the applications process, and the living and accommodation arrangements, “This is a full scholarship which covers the fields of European Interdisciplinary Studies, European Economic Studies, EU International Relations and Diplomacy Studies, European Legal Studies, European Political and Governance Studies, and Master of Arts in Transatlantic Affairs (MATA). Full tuition costs are paid for by the scholarship, as well as food, accommodation, and flights from and to the university institute; the College of Europe is funded by the European Commission.”

“A degree from the College of Europe,” Jadallah went on to say, “opens a lot of doors and opportunities. Most students go on to internships in the European Parliament, the European Commission, and the European Council after graduation.”

“I have put my Ph.D. studies on hold to attend a master’s program at the College of Europe,” said Dr. Khalil, “It is true that the workload will be stressful and, at times, very intensive, but this is the reality of a one-year master’s program, especially one given at such a prominent institute.”

The application period for the scholarship is open between November 2017 and mid-January of 2018. For more information please visit the admissions page at the College of Europe’s website : https://www.coleurope.eu/admission
