University’s lab reopened with Medicare’s lab technicians

Birzeit University’s Azeez Shaheen Clinic reopened its laboratories under the supervision of Medical Services and Consulting Company (Medicare Labs) to ensure that testing at the university’s state-of-the-art facilities and equipment is of excellent quality.

Medicare labs will provide the university with their lab technicians and medical staff to carry out high-quality tests on the university’s community upon a joint agreement, signed on February 8, 2020, by Birzeit University’s president, Abdullatif Abuhijleh, and the chairman of Medicare Labs, Bashar Al Karmi.

Attending the signing ceremony were Ziad Mimi, the university’s vice president for planning and development; Aziz Shawabkeh, assistant to the university’s president; and Zahi Awwad, Medicare’s vice chairman.

Abuhijleh said that the university is committed to providing high-quality health services by continuously developing its facilities, providing its clinic and lab with state-of-the-art equipment and highly qualified lab technicians, and maintaining a safe and supportive environment. He expressed his enthusiasm for the new partnership with Medicare that will support the university’s labs by providing them with reliable and qualified human resources.

Al Karmi described the new cooperation as the first of its kind among Palestinian universities, as Birzeit University is the first university in Palestine to be provided with such services that are of international standards.

Mimi assured that the cooperation with Medicare will continue to grow beyond the university’s labs to provide training opportunities for the students at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Nursing and Health Professions and at Samih Darwazeh Institute for Pharmaceutical Industries.
