Studying in the UK – an open day

On 1 December 2010, BZU hosted an open day organized by the British Cultural Council on Studying in the UK, in which many students have participated.

The event included presentations and explanations on the conditions and requirements for studying at British universities and the available scholarships.  Students were also briefed on the English language test (IELTS), held by the British Council on a regular basis to assess the language skills of the applicants.

On the sidelines of the Open Day, the British Council in collaboration with the British Consulate General in Jerusalem and the Alumni Association of the British Chevening scholarship gave a detailed presentation of the Chevening scholarship program, where Dr. Grace Khoury and Nidal Zahran were hosted. They talked about their personal experience during their study in Britain. It should be noted that both guests have received the Chevening Scholarship, being members of the Association, which was formed to provide services to the UK graduates and to communicate with the Palestinian educational institutions. In fact, the Chevening scholarship Program is part  of the activities of the British Council, aiming at providing educational opportunities for Palestinian students in Britain, and at empowering cultural ties and strengthening cooperation between the Palestinians and the British people.

The Chevening scholarship Program is  funded by the Office of the Foreign Relations and Commonwealth Office in Britain, providing students  and professionals around the world with the opportunity to study in the UK. Each year, 10 Palestinian students are able to pursue their studies in prestigious British universities for one year.
