Students delve into pharmaceutical marketing strategies, regulations in two-day workshop

Sixty students specializing in pharmacy and business administration at Birzeit University and other Palestinian institutions of higher education explored the basics of pharmaceutical marketing in a course organized by the Samih Darwazah Institute for Pharmaceutical Industries at Birzeit University, held on July 13 and 20, 2019.

Led by Ziyad Abu Alrob, Jerusalem Pharmaceuticals Company’s marketing manager in Palestine, the two-day course focused on building the students’ capacities and introduced them to the principles, basics, and ethics of pharmaceutical marketing. He presented marketing techniques and strategies and discussed the laws and regulations governing marketing for medical professionals.

Amin Thawabteh, the acting director of the Samih Darwazah Institute for Pharmaceutical Industries, emphasized the importance of exposing students to concepts and skills in pharmaceutical marketing, as many pharmaceutical students go on to become marketing representatives for Palestinian pharmaceutical companies.

Thawabteh also highlighted the institute’s cooperation with Jerusalem Pharmaceuticals Company and other Palestinian organizations and institutions, saying that such close collaboration provides students with the training and expertise needed to lead and develop the Palestinian pharmaceutical industry.
