Session Presents Scholarships Projects and Scholarships Opportunities at USA

The EducationUSA Network, a U.S Department of State network of international student advising centers, offered comprehensive information about opportunities to study at accredited colleges and universities in the United States for undergraduate and graduate students at Birzeit University on March 29, 2017.

The Network aims to reach prospective student and academics through fairs and outreach events at local universities, and other public venues, to help them choose their right educational destination in the United States.

Representatives from the EducationUSA advisers in Palestine visited Birzeit University, and met with the students providing information on a number of topics including: the admissions process and standardized testing requirements, how to finance a U.S. education, types of scholarships, fellowships and mobility opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students, and faculty members.

Prior to the information session with the students, the representatives met with the Vice President of Academic Affairs Henry Giacaman and the External Academic Relations Officer Amir Khalil.

Giacman emphasized on the university’s recognition to the power and importance of international collaboration in teaching, scholarship and services. “We always welcome conversations with potential partners in education, research and leadership.”

Regional Educational Advising Coordinator for EducationUSA Karen Bauer emphasized on the importance of introducing students to learning and research opportunities around the world. She expressed their interest in cooperating with Palestinian higher-education institutions not only in offering students scholarships in the United States, but also teaching Arabic language to American professors and students.
