Professors explore prospects to increase inclusion of persons with disabilities in Berlin visit

Dean of the Faculty of Education Dr. Ahmad Aljanazrah and Birzeit University Department of Curriculum and Instruction faculty member Ahmad Iftaiha  took part in a pedagogical workshop held at Humboldt University from August 27-31, 2018.

The workshop, an Erasmus+ initiative, concentrated on inclusive education for people with disabilities, especially students with hearing disability. It featured professors and pedagogical experts from Al-Quds University, An-Najah National University, and the Islamic University of Gaza.

The participating professors shared their experiences, where the practice of inclusive education for people with hearing impairment in both Germany and Palestine were explored. This aimed at reaching out to new means and methods for empowering higher education institutions, especially in Palestine, in their inclusive education experiences.

During their visit, professors of all participating universities from Palestine and Europe were able to frame a new project to incorporate inclusive education in higher education institutions. The University of Humboldt will be the main coordinator for the project, and Iftaiha will be the primary coordinator for the Palestinian universities.

All parties also discussed prospects of further cooperation in student exchange, regular symposiums, and PhD opportunities for Palestinian students.
