PARC members look into research possibilities with university faculty

A group of scholars and academics from the Palestinian American Research Center (PARC) visited Birzeit University on June 19, 2019, and met with the university president Abdullatif Abuhijleh, and the External Academic Relations Officer Amir Khalil, and a number of academics and students.

The delegation was introduced to the university’s history, mission and future prospects. Members of the Public Relations Office and the Right to Education Campaign pointed out to the systematic Israeli occupation violations against education, including the restrictions of movement, the continuous arrest of students and academics, the localization of knowledge and the expansion of illegal settlements.

The Director of the Palestine and Arabic Studies Program (PAS) Hanada Kharama told the delegation about the program that focuses on teaching Arabic language and culture to non-native speakers.

The delegation exchanged ideas with a number of university professors from the Institute of Women’s Studies, The Institute of Water and Environmental Studies, the Institute of Community and Public Health, the Doctorate program in social sciences, the department of social and Behavioral Science. They discussed joint research and academic projects.
