New master’s program in "Government and Local Governance" launched

Starting with the academic year 2017/2018, the Faculty of Law and Public Administration at Birzeit University will offer a new master’s program in Government and Local Governance.

The new program will provide the public and private sector with an advanced body of knowledge and skills to implement comprehensive national strategies that reform local entities and achieve sustainable development.

The program reflects critically on theory and practice, and provides students with an evidence-based learning approach to building high level of influence and leadership in their local government workplace.

The Government and Local Governance Studies Program will tackle a number of contemporary issues such as the role of public administration in the modern state, the creation, implementation and evaluation of public policies, the philosophy of local governance, its management systems and development. In addition to methods of strategic thinking, it will also tackle leadership dynamics within the contemporary global changes, administrative control, the fight against corruption, project management, policymaking in the public sector, and professional ethics.

The program specifically targets employees in the private sector, local government sector, the private sector, and public administration and administrative sciences graduates.

Through this program, students will be able to benefit from the partnerships the university will maintain with different entities and academic institutions to offer academic, research, and training opportunities to students.
