Languages and translation instructors gain virtual learning, digital skills in UK workshop

Ruba Khalaf and Majida Dajani, two instructors at Birzeit University’s Department of Languages and Translation, and Adnan Abuayyash, the department’s acting chair, have recently attended a two-week training course on blended learning in language education at the Norwich Institute for Language Education in the UK.

In this course, held from August 19 to 30, 2019, the instructors focused on principles of blended learning that can be incorporated into course design, such as the use of virtual learning environments, formative assessment through technology, the developing of digital resources for English-language teaching classrooms, and peer- and micro-teaching through computer-mediated activities.

This training course is part of the Department of Languages and Translation’s strategy to bolster the effectiveness of the virtual learning environments that are employed by the department’s instructors as part of its English language program.
