BZU, Ukraine to strengthen cooperation

On October 7, 2017, the Representative of Ukraine to the Palestinian National Authority, Mykola Leschenko, met with Birzeit University President Abdullatif Abuhijleh and discussed prospects for cooperation.

Both parties discussed the opportunity to develop academic and research cooperation in the area of linguistics and foreign language teaching. They agreed that the cooperation will include student and faculty member exchanges, the creation of joint academic programs, and the exchange of knowledge.

President Abdullatif said that the university is part of a close-knit network of international cooperation that is being continuously strengthened and expanded. “We seek to create a large network of long-standing agreements for student and faculty exchange that offers mutual opportunities for international experiences and cultural exchanges.”

Leschenko expressed his country’s eagerness to expand ties and initiate new ones with Palestinians, especially in academia. He stated that Ukraine aims to build a common area of increased cooperation in research, academia, and faculty and student exchange.
