BZU organizes gathering for its UAE alumni

Birzeit University held a meeting for its alumni residing in the United Arab Emirates on February 5, 2018. The event, organized by the Advancement Office’s Alumni Unit and the Public Relations Office, was held in the Grand Millennium Dubai and was attended by more than 150 of the university’s graduates.

President of the University Dr. Abdullatif Abuhijleh welcomed the attendees, saying “It is my pleasure to be here with you and talk to you years after graduation. We realize that our alumni are our ambassadors both in Palestine and abroad. As such, we strive to maintain our connections with them wherever they are, and so we’ve launched the Alumni Engagement Program to function as a hub between us and the alumni, and between the alumni themselves. The program will continue organizing events and activities that reinforce our connection to the alumni and provide opportunities for academic, personal, and professional connections as well.”

The event also featured a musical performance by the university’s graduate Mansour Barghouthi, who sang a number of folklore songs.

Ruba Abdel Hadi and Mohammad Abu Obaid gave speeches on behalf of Birzeit University’s UAE alumni, calling on their fellow graduates to maintain connections to their alma mater, as well as among themselves, and thanked the university and the Alumni Engagement Program for their efforts in reuniting graduates and connecting with them wherever they were.

By organizing this event, the university aimed to cement the connection to its alumni, as well as the connections among the alumni themselves, to strengthen the interaction and communication among Birzeit University’s extended, worldwide family, and bolster the overall sense of belonging to the university community.

During the event, the graduates exchanged their college stories and experiences and expressed their desire to establish a body or an association for the university’s UAE-residing alumni, aiming to strengthen connections between the graduates and maintain a constant connection to the university.
