Birzeit University Architects Participate in Greek Architecture Conference

The Department of Architectural Engineering at Birzeit University participated in the sixth edition of the International Festival of Architecture Schools (IFAS 2018) held in the city of Amarousion in Greece.

Instructors Sarah Khatib, Mohammad Abul Rub and Ibrahim Hindi represented the university. They attended a student design workshop, conferences, and other events that focused on urban renewal presented by Arab and international architects.

Birzeit University representatives presented a lecture on urban renewal in Palestine in relation to the political and social context of the Palestinian cities and villages.

Over one hundred people, including the participating teachers and four students from Birzeit University, took part at the design and urban planning workshop focused on Marousi, a suburban city in Greece. In the workshop, the participants proposed possible designs for the redevelopment of a sample section of the city, with a rich history and many environmental qualities that can be turned into critical resources for the city.

IFAS is an annual festival that aims to discuss and explore new prospects for urban planning and design in specific built spaces. Birzeit University’s participation aimed to strengthen the cooperation between Palestinian students and academics and the festival’s organizer, D'Annunzio University of Chieti–Pescara.
