Academic Development Unit concludes second phase of its advancement program

Birzeit University’s Academic Development Unit concluded the second phase of the Academic Advancement Program that targets new faculty members.

Supervised by the Academic Development Unit’s team, the participants have developed a learning unit for a course they are currently teaching in their university-assigned program, utilizing and reflecting the skills and methods they learned in the first phase. Feedback has been provided after the developed unit was taught in an actual classroom.

Completed in November 2019, the first phase of the program introduced the new faculty members to university laws and regulations and to the university portal Ritaj and covered topics such as how to incorporate modern pedagogical approaches and activities into teaching methods as well as ways to utilize technology applications in education.

Wael Kishek, the development unit’s director, explained that the Academic Advancement Program is an introductory program where new faculty members are familiarized with Birzeit University’s laws and regulations, modern pedagogical approaches, and new technology through training sessions, workshops and symposiums.
