30 international students enrolled in Palestine and Arabic Studies Program

Birzeit University welcomed the around thirty new international students who are enrolled in the Palestine and Arabic Studies Program (PAS) that focuses on teaching Arabic to non-native speakers, on January 22, 2020.

The students, who came from Britain, the United States, Germany, Japan, South Korea, Norway and Finland, will be studying at the program during the current academic semester (spring 2020).

Taghreed Abed, director of PAS, welcomed the new students and introduced them to the specialized courses offered by the program that include classes in the Arabic language and in Palestinian culture, history, and politics. She gave them tips on how to cope with the academic requirements and enjoy social life during their stay in Palestine.

The university’s Public Relations Office gave an introduction to the university’s history, its academic programs and co-curricular activities. The Right to Education Campaign spoke about the constraints imposed by the Israeli occupation on education in Palestine.
