International Women's Day

Right now is an important time in history to help forge more gender-balanced communities. Women have come a long way, yet there is still more to be achieved. In March, the world celebrates Women’s International Day and Mother’s Day to honor their achievements and contribution towards their societies and the world, and steadfastly challenge bias.

Palestinian women have always been active agents of resistance in the national struggle against the Israeli occupation. Their agency have always had a profound effect on gender relations within the Palestinian society. The lived experiences of Palestinian women, in the political, academic and social spheres is firmly rooted in our society.

At Birzeit University, women achieve outstanding success in multiple fields and disciplines, and play a vital role in guiding the university toward academic excellence, both nationally and regionally.  As of March of 2019, 62 percent of all enrolled students are females, with innovative, entrepreneurial women leading breakthroughs in science and humanities alike.
