An introduction to the basic principles and methods of biostatistics and epidemiology. The course will cover the following topics: Relevance and principles of biostatistics with application in medicine and biology, descriptive statistics, sampling, estimation of parameters, probability and probability distributions, hypothesis testing, correlation and regression and non-parametric tests. In addition, the course covers the main concepts of epidemiology including measures of disease frequency and distribution, measures of association and the concept of causation.
