One hour per week of individual instruction in the student’s major instrument. Skills and knowledge learned in theoretical classes are developed and applied in practice. In this level focus is on pieces in multiple maqams, and modern musical forms which include complex and changing meters; accompanying song forms such as muwashahat and Dawr; rhythmic improvising in compound meters and in different tempi; practical composing in basic compound forms; building maqam improvisations and maqam modulation in Iraqi style.
