Introduction to transducers. System modeling and analysis. Analog and digital data acquisition and conversion. Transduction mechanisms. Introductions to piezoelectricity, electromagnetism and laser interferrometry. Sensors for measuring: force, displacement, velocity, acceleration, temperature, pressure and fluid flow. Force and displacement actuators, DC and stepper motors. Applications. Team project on design and implementation of a mechatronics system.
