An Introduction to Global Health and Its Relevance to Palestine

The Institute of Community and Public Health (ICPH)-Birzeit University in collaboration with Palestinian Children’s Relief Fund (PCRF) will hold a four-day training course in Global Health. This intensive course explores the links between health and ‘globalization’ (intended as global economic governance) so that implications for policy-making and roles of people’s participation may be discussed, with due attention to the Palestinian geo-political context.

The training will be conducted in English by Dr. Angelo Stefanini* from the Palestinian Children Relief Fund (PCRF). The course targets MPH students and alumni, young researchers, and public health professionals and will be held at the ICPH, Birzeit University, Said Khoury for Development Studies building, 1st Floor .

A confirmation email will be sent to those who are accepted and a certificate of attendance will be issued to participants who attended a minimum of 10 out of 12 classes.

*Angelo Stefanini MD MPH DTM&H is  a public health physician who worked for several years in Africa and the Middle East, first as general-duty medical officer in rural hospitals and later as director of public health programmes. He has taught at the universities of Leeds (UK), Makerere (Uganda) and Bologna (Italy). In the year 2002 he was head of the WHO Office for the oPt.  In 2006 he established the Centre for International Health of Bologna university from which he has just retired.

He is currently volunteering with the Palestinian Children Relief Fund (PCRF).
