At The Faculty of Art, Music and Design Birzeit University
The Faculty of Art, Music and Design is the newest faculty at Birzeit University. The faculty intends to foster the growth of learning in the creative fields of design, visual art and music in the Palestinian community, and aims to put creativity and cultural knowledge at the heart of the lives of students at Birzeit University through its courses, exhibitions and activities.
The new faculty is housed in a specially tailored building, in which the learning environment with studios, art and design workshops and practice rooms is designed to create a learning environment in which students have the ability to experiment, research, make and present their work. The new faculty endeavors to affect the university milieu and wider community by establishing itself as a cultural hub through holding a wide range of activities, from concerts, screenings, symposiums, exhibitions, talks and short courses.

About the Residency
Supported by A M Qattan Foundation, and through the Visual Arts: A Flourishing Field’ (VAFF) Project, funded by Sweden, Birzeit University’s Faculty of Art, Music and Design is offering a residency opportunity for a creative practitioner in one of its programs: “Contemporary Visual Art” or “Design”. The resident artists will stay for two months at the faculty to conduct research, and teach. The residency includes flight ticket (for International applicants), accommodation, studio space, and research grant.
Duration:
8 weeks
First Residency: April - May 2020
Second Residency: October - November 2020
The residency offered through this partnership includes:
Flight Ticket: Up to $900 (for International applicants). The residency does not cover Visa application.
Research grant of $2000
Accommodation and studio space (will be arranged by the faculty.)
Requirements:
You have a minimum of 5-year experience in the fields of contemporary visual art or design.

Selection Criterea
The applications will be selected by a jury from the faculty according to; the quality of the application, the relevance to the faculty and its programs, and an innovative research project proposal.
