An introduction to building construction, building materials: their properties, uses and performance in different environments (wood, clay, metals, stone, glass, etc.), the preparation of the building material, and their effect under moisture and underground water, different kinds of walls, floors, and roofing systems, study of stairs and elevators, and a practical introduction to working drawings through drawing building material symbols and using architectural terminology, and drawing details for the various architectural elements being discussed. (Lecture 2hrs , Studio 3hrs).
