Al Madaen Food Company to support Birzeit University’s scholarship program

High-achieving, low-income Birzeit University students will receive financial aid and scholarships that shall be provided by Al Madaen Food Company, a food production and processing firm based in Jerusalem, as part of an agreement signed with the university’s administration on Saturday, August 3, 2019

Signed by Birzeit University’s President Abdullatif Abuhijleh and Al Madaen’s CEO Musa Jubeh — with Manal Issa, the university’s vice president for advancement, in attendance — the agreement specifies that Al Madaen in cooperation with the university shall assist students who exhibit academic excellence and suffer financial hardship through scholarships for the next five years.

In his welcoming remarks, Abuhijleh emphasized Birzeit University’s efforts to support its students in their studies. He explained that “The university will work with private, public, and civil-society institutions to help students exercise their right to education, especially during the difficult economic situation currently affecting the country.”

Jubeh stressed Al Madaen’s commitment towards developing and advancing education and research in Palestine, saying that the agreement is the first among many he hopes to establish with Birzeit University.
