Doctor-of-pharmacy students don white coats, prepare for training at Palestinian healthcare institutions

Thirty-eight future doctors of pharmacy wore white coats to mark the beginning of their training at Palestinian health institutions following the end of their third year at Birzeit University in a ceremony organized by the Faculty of Pharmacy, Nursing and Health Professions on Saturday, April 20, 2019.

The ceremony is a form of matriculation that marks a new stage in the academic and professional careers of students, who will start their practical training in pharmacies and hospitals across Palestine.

Rania Abu-Hamdah, dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Nursing and Health Professions, congratulated the students and outlined their training that will take place in pharmacies, both unconnected and within hospitals, and private and public hospitals.

Addressing the students, Abdullah Rabba, chair of the Department of Pharmacy, said that although the next stage of their education will not be easy, the students have acquired the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in their training and future careers.

Omar Tawil, the ceremony valedictorian, delivered a speech in which he reiterated his and his colleagues’ commitment towards patients and the healthcare system in Palestine and called on officials to better integrate doctors of pharmacy in public and private healthcare institutions.
