Anti-Corruption Commission, Gazan journalists discuss national strategy to combat corruption

The President of Birzeit University Abdullatif Abuhijleh met with the Chairman of the Palestinian Anti-Corruption Commission Rafiq Al-Natsheh to look into ways to intensify  cooperation. Organized by the Media Development Center, the visit comes as part of an encounter via videoconference between the commission and journalists from Gaza to discuss the Palestinian national strategy to combat corruption.

The meeting was attended by Director of the Media Development Center Nibal Thawabteh, the center’s Monitoring and Evaluation Unit Coordinator Imad Asfar, Head of Planning Department at the commission Hamdi Khawaja, and Director of Legal Affairs at the commission Rasha Amarneh.

Abuhijleh expressed his pride in the long-standing cooperation between the Palestinian Anti-Corruption Commission and the Media Development Center, outlining the activities organized and accomplishments achieved in providing journalists with the skills required to highlight cases of corruption and report on related community issues.

Natsheh talked about the concrete partnership built with Birzeit University to contribute to the national efforts of combating corruption. He stressed that training journalists in methods to detect corruption must be a main priority for all media institutions and agencies.

During the encounter between the commission and Gazan journalists, Natsheh assured that the commission reflects the aspirations of the Palestinian people and the efforts all organizations are devoting towards eliminating corruption in Palestine.
