French lecturer participates in international conference on teaching French to undergraduates

Lecturer in the French Department Dalia Afifi participated at an international conference entitled “Ten Years of Research, Work, and Renewal in the Service of the Francophone in Universities,” held at the University of Montreal in Canada.

The Canadian linguist and philosopher Claude Germain was the main speaker at the conference, which was attended by researchers from France, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Lebanon, Morocco, India, Czech Republic, and other countries.

Afifi presented her paper “How to use online programs for communication and learning in the teaching of writing skills in the French Language as a foreign language.” The paper focused on the “Story Bird” program conducted with the students of the French Department at Birzeit University. The program is an international initiative designed to enhance the student proficiency in writing.

The conference was organized by the College of Continuing Education at the University of Montreal, the University of Quebec at Trois-Rivières, and the National Language Association of Canada.
