BZU climbs to 38th spot in QS Arab University Rankings

Chosen among 1000 universities in the Arab world, Birzeit University has clinched the 38th position in the QS University ranking of the top 100 universities in the Arab region for 2018. The university climbed twelve places from last year, as announced by global higher education analysts Quacquarelli Symonds (QS).The university has also led Palestinian universities for the third consecutive year.

The QS ranking is based on key indicators, including: ratio of teachers to students; ratio of doctorate degree holders; ratio of published articles by members of the academic staff; ratio of citations per paper; ratio of international students and faculty who teach and study in the university; academic reputation; and web impact.

The university’s strong performance in this year’s ranking is strongly reflected in the “ratio of citations per paper” indicator. As a result, the university was ranked in 11th place for this indicator, and scored highest among its peers. I

In a domestic comparison, Birzeit University was among nine other Palestinian universities to be listed the QS University Rankings for the Arab region. Two of the Palestinian universities were listed in the top 50 Arab universities.

This year, Birzeit University broke into the “QS World University Rankings 2018”. Chosen 26,000 universities worldwide, the university was among 3% of the best universities in the world. The list included about 950 universities.
