BZU holds the 1st annual meeting for the graduates of the Biology and Biochemistry Department
The Department of Biology and Biochemistry at BZU held on 29 May 2010 its 1st annual meeting for the graduates of the Department, attended by the Vice-President for Community Affairs, Dr. Munir Qazzaz, Vice-President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Adnan Yahya, Chairperson of the Biology and Biochemistry Department, Dr. Ahed Abdul Khaliq, and a number of faculty members and old and new graduates.
The coordinator of the meeting, Dr. Ademar Sagheer, emphasized the importance of the meeting in maintaining communication between alumni and the university, and the need to establish an alumni club that brings the graduates together.
Dr. Abdul-Khaliq overviewed the Department, which was founded in 1976, offering academic programs leading to bachelor's degree in biology as a major and biochemistry as a minor.
Dr. Yahya explained that the Department of Biology and Biochemistry is one of the distinctive departments at BZU, since it does not limit itself to the academic aspects, but provide many services to several University departments, especially for the Faculty of Nursing and Allied Health Professions.
He stressed that the graduates' meeting is a healthy phenomenon between the faculty and its graduates, because BZU is in need
of a feedback regarding the adequacy of its programs with professional life.
Dr. Abdul-Khaliq offered a plaque to Dr. Munir Nasser for his efforts at the Department.
The meeting Included a reception, display of archival photos of the Department and its students, and the election of the Preparatory Committee of the graduates of the Department, Medals bearing the name and University ID number of graduates were distributed.
