Master Program in Clinical Laboratory Science

 

The Master's Program in Clinical Laboratory Science offers a program that leads to a Master's. Upon the completion of 36 credit hours selected from core and electives courses in the field of clinical laboratory science. In addition to the general major in Clinical laboratory science, the program offers a concentration in Microbiology and Immunology.     

The program provides the student with the option to choose one of two tracks. Track A: thesis written according to the rules and regulations of the Faculty of Graduate Studies. Track B, the student completes two seminars where he obtains practical and professional training and then passes an oral general examination. Students concentrating in microbiology and immunology must chose a topic for their thesis or two seminars related to the fields of microbiology and immunology.

The aim of the Program is to raise the level of services in Clinical Laboratory Science for medical technicians by augmenting the theoretical aspects with adequate practical training. In addition, the graduates will be highly qualified scientifically and thoroughly familiar, knowledgeable and skilled in utilizing advanced laboratory techniques to apply for diagnostic purposes. This will be done in accordance with the plans of the Palestine Ministry of Health 

Admission Requirements:
1. Bachelor degree from an accredited university recognized by Birzeit University.

2. Bachelor degree in one of the following majors: Medical laboratory science, general medicine, science major with a minor in clinical laboratory science, allied health professions   or any other major seems to be adequate and accepted by the program's council. Applicants must complete the necessary prerequisites upon acceptance to the program.

3. Meet all the conditions for acceptance as specified in the academic rules for the faculty of graduate studies.

4. Candidates are expected to pass a competency test in the English language.

5. Applicant must come for a personal interview if the program council find it necessary.  

Remedial Courses:

Students may be required to take up to three remedial courses as specified in the acceptance letter.
