Department of Computer Science

The Department of Computer Science actively participates and provides leadership to the information technology sector in local community. It makes extensive use of wide band connectivity to the Internet as web-supported using vehicles such as Ritaj. Students and faculty have access to both hardware and software through university resources as well as through our laboratory workstations.

The Computer Science program offers courses and programs leading to Bachelor Degree in Computer Science.  The program is concerned with understanding and influencing the exploding future of computation in the Information Age. The program strives to meet the requirements for professional careers and research in software development and computing systems technology by producing graduates with a broad base of formal course work. Students may use required elective credit to strengthen their degree in areas such as,  databases systems, design and analysis of algorithms, software engineering, web applications & technology, pattern recognition and image processing... and so on.

The Computer Science program at Birzeit University has the faculty and facilities to offer students a broad understanding of future directions in computers, along with opportunities to do research projects and to acquire skills valuable in the workplace. The department is concerned with understanding and influencing the rapidly growing field of computation in the Information Age.

The mission of the Department of Computer Sciences to educate undergraduate students to become highly skilled in the principles and practices of computer science and information technology and to prepare computer scientists and information technology graduates to meet today's market needs.
