Birzeit University’s Engineering and Information Technology faculties organized a joint workshop on Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) programs. The workshop was offered by Adnan Nayfeh, formerly the president of Zarqa University in Jordan and an international expert in quality assurance and the accreditation of university programs.

 

 

The first workshop session described the ABET accreditation system for engineering, computer science and technology programs in the United States and other countries, also outlining in detail the reasons universities obtain this accreditation.

 

The second session included a detailed presentation and discussion of ABET’s required academic standards.

 

Finally, the third session covered with program evaluation techniques that ensure the achievement of outputs.

 

The workshop was attended by Engineering and Information Technology faculty members, in addition to the staff of the university’s Quality Assurance Office.
