Engineering Faculty Sets up Consultative Committees to Build Community Relationships
The Faculty of Engineering
at Birzeit University established advisory
committees for its departments on March 12, 2013 that will strengthen relations with the related labor
markets and recent graduates. Feedback from graduates
will be used to assure their preparedness for the job market
and respond to gaps.
Vice
President for Academic Affairs Adnan Yahya said that these efforts
are part of BZU’s vision for community
outreach by involving the community in designing faculty
policies.
"Insistence on the existence of a special relationship
between academia and
industry, including engineering,
is very important to Birzeit University,
both in the present and future,”
said Yahya, “as the university seeks to establish
advisory committees for different
university units."
Faculty of
Engineering Dean Afif Hassan
said, "The Faculty of Engineering
has maintained good relations with a
number of international universities, private and public
sector institutions and organizations as well as its
relations with trade unions and
industrial communities." It hopes
to capitalize on these relationships, he said.
