Delegation from BZU Faculty of Education Visits University of London

 

 The Faculty of Education at BZU in collaboration with An-Najah and Al-Quds universities visited the Institute of Education at the University of London from 26 October – 2 November 2011.  The delegation included BZU faculty Dr. Hasan Abdelkareem and Dr.Ahmed Janazreh as well as Dr. Afif Zidan and Dr. Ziad Kabajah from Al-Quds University.

 

Some of the activities implemented during the visit included a presentation on the use of the laboratory for the purpose of qualifying science teachers, a visit to teacher-training schools, and a discussion of ways of promoting research cooperation between Palestinian universities and the University of London.

 

 

Faculty of Education Holds a Science Education Workshop

 

 

The Faculty of Education at BZU held a workshop on science education at the Intercontinental Hotel in Jericho from 17-19 November 2011. The workshop was attended by instructors of science education at Palestinian universities, including those in Gaza who participated via video-conference. The workshop was facilitated by Professor in Education Shirley Simon, and Lecturer in Education Sandra Campbell from the Institute of Education, University of London, who were visiting Palestine as part of a joint project between BZU and the University of London. The workshop addressed the issue of training teachers to teach content and boosting the self-confidence of both teachers and students in their areas of specialization. At the end of the workshop, several meetings were held to discuss ways of developing science education programs and strengthening cooperation in the field of research.

 

 

Delegation from University of London Visits BZU

 

A delegation from the University of London visited the BZU Faculty of Education on 21 November 2011 and met with the Dean of the Faculty of Education, Dr. Maher Hashweh; Chairperson of the Curriculum and Teaching Department, Dr. Hasan AbdelKareem; and the Director of the “Science Teacher-training Development Project,” Hazem Abu Jazar. The guests toured the University, visiting the Public Relations Office and other facilities.

 

It is important to note that BZU works in collaboration with the An-Najah and Al-Quds universities on implementing the “Science Teacher-training Development Project,” funded by the Quality Improvement Fund (QIF) at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education.
