Executive Education Program
The BZU Faculty of Commerce and Economics recently launched the Executive Education Program,
which will offer a
series of courses to MBA students and managers working in the private sector and other institutions.
The first course “Strategic Management” started
on 4 July and ran through 14
July 2012, presenting the foundation
and methods of strategic analysis
through case studies from Palestinian institutions. The course was taught by
Professor of Strategy & Innovation Management, George
Tovstiga, from Henley Business School at the University of Reading in the UK.
The twenty nine participants included 14 MBA students from BZU and 15 middle and top
executives from the Palestinian private sector (Arab Palestinian Investment
Company, Wassel Group & Palestinian
Investment Fund).
MBA Program
Director, Dr. Grace Khoury, said that: "Both public and private Palestinian institutions
are facing many challenges which arise
from local, regional and global
political, social and economic changes, as well as other
confrontations that evolve from the policies and practices
of the Israeli occupation. These
challenges impose on Palestinian institutions the need for
strategic thinking so as to overcome
obstacles by improving performance
and ensuing sustainability."
Dr. Khoury
added: “Strategic management is an effective tool for thinking and acting in a
manner that assists the institution to achieve its mission and objectives. Having
professionals and MBA students together offers a mutually enriching experience
for both groups to communicate, network and exchange expertise.”
