An Educational Encounter on the Challenges Facing Education in Palestine
The Ibn Rushd Unit for Educational Development at BZU held on 27 October 2009 its 8th meeting, as part of the series of encounters, attempting to shed light on educational themes that impact the educational development and modernization , in order to encounter the educational challenges in Palestine. The encounter was attended by a large crowd of guests, faculty members and students of BZU.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Executive Director of the Unit, Munir Rafidi, welcomed the attendees, stating that the educational system in Palestine is facing challenges in an era of many changes at all levels, since the knowledge explosion and technological revolution, in addition to the economic and social transformations, development of methods of transportation and communication - all these are great challenges that we must face, above all the challenges imposed by the political realities on the ground.
Dr. Ahmed Fatiha from the Department of Psychology at BZU presented a study on: "The challenges facing the educational system in Palestine" and proposed strategies to address them. The study aimed at developing educational strategy to meet the challenges facing the Palestinian educational system. He pointed out that the educational system in Palestine is facing many challenges like the political status-quo, lack of educational vision and philosophy, infrastructure, which is manifested in the overcrowding of the classroom, in addition to the funding issue .
